If the compound is made from metal and a non metal, its bounding will be ionic
If the compound is made from two non metals then its bounding is covalent
If the compound is made from two non metals then its bounding is covalent

In ionic compound there is gain and loss of electrons. And i hope u knw when there is gain or loss . So for finding that compound is ionic we will see first the electronegativity(EN) on each element and then find the difference between thier EN if the difference is more than 1.9 then the compound is ionic and less than 1.9 then it is covalent
For eg- NaCl frst look for thier electronegativity and then find the differnce that is 2.1 so as it is more than 1.9 so it is ionic compound.
Now coordinate bond is formed when one element give both the electron for sharing between two element
for eg- NF3-BF3
the bodn is represented by an arrow
