lets take an example:
2 2/6 and 2 3/4
14/6 and 11/4
so take out the LCM of 6 and 4
it will be
12
now the denominators will be 12
numerator should be
14×2 as 6(denominator into 2 is 12)
and 11×3 as 4 (denominator into 3 is 12(numerator)
now simply add
33/12 + 28/12
=61/12
