How to add water to concentrate nitric acid for making dilution

pour water in a beaker and stir it continuously and simultaneously pour the concentric nitric acid slowly

acid should be drop by drop added water. Water should not be added to acid since this reaction is highly exothermic. When you add acid to water the concentration of H3O+ ions decreases n acid gets diluted.
