Explanation:

It would depend on what context. Are you unfamiliar with the meaning? Have not been trained? Required for the position being applied? If it’s a skill you don’t possess, that’s relatively easy to answer.

Most senior military members pride themselves in garnering a lot of knowledge on just about anything. Problem therein lies in the scope. A PhD knows A LOT about a little bit but you cannot have a PhD level of understanding on everything. It’s impossible and most of all impractical. This is why we work in teams and I surround myself by the smartest people who all wield a variety of skills that, when combined, allows us to do anything.

If the job requires you to know a skill, skills can be taught, attitude CANNOT be taught. Give some examples of when you accomplished something you were not trained for and yet you delivered due to the right attitude, mental focus and determination.

Granted, there are exceptions, for example Nuclear Power. You have to be trained for that but by and large, you can learn anything on the go. The key is your attitude. Sort of like viewing a mountain. Nobody focuses on its impossible height, but on the best area to begin their climb to conquer it.
