to be balanced)

2. Then make a list of all the atoms on left hand

side of the arrow

3. Repeat step 2 on right hand side as well

4. Write down the number of atoms of each

element on both the sides of the arrow.

5. Now make the number of atoms of each

element on both the sides equal.

6. Balance by making the number of atoms as

the coefficients of the element.

H2 + Cl2 -> HCl

LHS

Hydrogen = 2

Chlorine = 2

RHS

Hydrogen = 1

Chlorine = 1

( Balancing )

Hydrogen = 1*2=2 , Chlorine = 1*2=2
