if u react any metal with O2 then u will get a metal oxide . then the reaction may be balanced or maybe nt
eg- Zn +O2 =ZnO(here the equation is nt balanced)
Zinc = 1 after reaction Zinc=1
Oxygen =2 After reaction oxygen = 1
2Zn +O2 = 2ZnO
So we add 2 to ZnO hence balancing O2 but then Zn is not balanced so we add 2 to Zn before reaction .
