at LHS: at RHS:

Na= 2. Na=2

H=4. H=4

O=2. O=2

hence it is balanced...

Na+H2O=NaOH+H2

2Na+2H2O=2NaOH+H2

Here..

Chemical on reactants side and product side are equal. ...hence it is balanced...
