For a beginner, the best method is to practice the method to taught to you

since aluminium exists as a single atom you can balance chlorine by taking lcm and make up for the less aluminium.

Al+Cl2---->AlCl3

=>Al+3Cl2------>2AlCl3 balance the chlorine by lcm(2 on L.H.S, 3 on R.H.S.)

=>balance the remaining aluminiuim

=>2Al+3Cl2----->2AlCl3----------------------> Answer

Answer: 2Al+Cl2  = 2AlCl3

Explanation:

equation                  1                  2

no of Al atoms =      1                  1

no of chlorine =       2                 3

so multiply the equation by by the to get the LCM of chlorine atom

equation one chlorine by 3 = Al + 2*Cl2 = Al + 2Cl2

equation two {note whole equation}  = 2*AlCl3 =2*AlCl3

now

equation                  1                  2

no of Al atoms =      1                  2

no of chlorine =       6                 6

to equal aluminium

so multiply the equation by by the to get the LCM of aluminium atom

equation one aluminium by 3 = 2*Al + 2Cl2 = 2Al + 2Cl2

equation two {note whole equation}  = 1*2AlCl3 =2*AlCl3

equation                  1                  2

no of Al atoms =      2                  2

no of chlorine =       6                 6

All the atoms are same on both sides hence the equation is balanced.
