how to calculate absolute poverty in india

I am not too sure since I gave up economics last year, but.... oh wait I'll ask my brother to answer it... I don't know too much on this subject but I know that the word bank calculates the poverty percent/ratio of every country. Now, how they do it.... I don't know much, but they do so by calculating on an average the number of people whose consumption expenditure is below the poverty line. ... what I do know is that they determine the poverty line by planning commission on the basis of data provided by NSSO after a five-year survey.
