Let,

marks of first subject = 40

marks of second shubject= 45

marks of third subject = 50

marks of forth subject = 40

marks of fifth subject= 45

average marks of 5 subject = $\frac{40 + 45 + 50 + 40 + 45}{5}$

$= \frac{220}{5}$

$= 44$
