How to calculate formula mass? Also, can anyone explain me how this one is calculated,,,, Bcz they have multiplied every element with a different number

The formula mass is calculated by adding up all the atomic masses for every atom in the formula. Note: The atomic mass of an atom is the atom's mass relative to 1/12th of the mass of a carbon-12 atom on which the standard atomic mass scale is based (e.g. H = 1, C = 12, P = 31 etc).

Answer:

It's very easy if you know the Avg Atomic Mass of the elements

Explanation:

First, you find the quantity of the element and multiply it with its Avg Atomic Mass, Quantity can be found with the help of a Formula.

In Example CHCl_{3}

The Molecule contains 1 atom of C, 1 atom of H, and 3 atoms of Cl (check their subscripts, no number means 1 and Cl has 3 which means 3 atoms of Cl)

then add all the masses together to get the moleular/formula mass
