Take a look at this paper by Talati and Jalifar. It has a macroscopic analysis of how to model the exchange in kinetic energy during braking to thermal energy. The more complicated problem of how the heat is dissipated from the disk brakes/pads is also discussed. Requires solving thermal energy equation in a complex geometry which must be done numerically.
