Answer- Let's know what inertia is.

Inertia- The natural tendency of an object to remain in its state of rest or motion or direction is called inertia.

The above definition is the qualitative explanation of inertia.

The quantitative explanation of inertia is: Inertia of an object is measured by its mass.

So, inertia is calculated by the mass of an object.

Heavier the object, larger is the inertia.

Lighter the object, less is the inertia.

For e.g.- Q. Which has more inertia- a bicycle or a train?

⇒ Mass of the bicycle is less than that of train i.e. train has more mass than the bicycle.

As we know, more the mass, more is the inertia.

So, the train has more inertia than the bicycle.

Hope it helps!

First of all let's know what is Inertia?

Inertia => The tendency of a body to continue in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line even when some external unbalanced force is applied, is called Inertia.

Greater the inertia of body, Greater is the force required to change its state or uniform motion. In fact, Mass is the measure of the Inertia of a body. This means the heavier the body, the more is its inertia and vice versa.

For example, If we kick a football and a stone of the same size with same force, the football go a long way, but the stone may not even move. This is because the football has lesser and, hence lesser inertia. Thus, it will resist the applied force very little. However, the stone has a large mass and hence, large Inertia. Thus, it will resist the applied force a lot and, hence may not move.
