Answer:the mass of an atom reside in its nucleus for example the mass of carbon is 12 you because it has 6 protons and neutrons similarly the mass of aluminium is 27 you it has 13 protons and 14 neutrons the mass number is defined as the sum of total number of protons and neutrons present in nucleus of atom.
