To calculate mean by assumed mean method, follow these steps:
♣ For each class interval, calculate the class mark x by using the formula,
xi = upper class limit + lower class limit/2
♣ Choose a suitable value of xi in the middle as assumed mean and denote it by A.
♣ Calculate the deviations di = (xi-A) for each value of i.
♣ Calculate the product (fidi) for each i.
♣ Find n = Sigma fi
♣ Calculate the mean, by using the formula,
Mean = A +(Sigma)fidi/n
Hope this would help you.
