⭕️ Calculation of oxidation number:-

⭐Sum of the oxidation States of all the atoms in a neutral molecule is zero while in case of ions it is equal to the charge present on that ion.

⭐ Oxidation number of elements in their free state is zero. Eg= ON of Na, K, Mg, Ca etc = 0

⭐ Oxidation number of alkali and alkaline earth metals are always+1 and +2 respectively.

⭐ Oxidation state of oxygen in most of the cases is = -2 with some exceptions.
