Weight = cross sectional area * Length * density
= [π(diameter)² /4 ] * Length * Density
As normally diameter is measured in ''mm''.
And density of mild steel is approximately 7850 kg/m³
And also considering value of πas 3.14
While using the formula given above, the unit for Diameter is Millimeter (mm) while the unit of Length is Meter (m) and the unit of Weight is Kilogram (kg).
Also remember that for calculating weight of bars of different materials, the density part must be changed accordingly.
