how to check whether the solution is acidic
Answers
Answer:
by using litmus paper, methyl orange or phenolthalene
Answer:
The acidic solutions can be detected by their sour taste and basic solutions by their soapy touch and bitterly taste. But not all acids or bases are not tasted or touched as many cause harm to the body. The acidic or the basicity of the solutions can be tested with the help of common indicators like litmus, methyl orange and phenolphthalein. (indicators are the complex substances that aquire different colours in acidic or basic mediums). More accurately they could be ascertained on the basis of ionisation or concentration of hydrogen ion in solution known as pH. If the number is less than 7 it indicates that the acidity of the solution is increasing with a decrease in pH. If the number is greater than 7 it shows that the alkanity of the solution increases with an increase in pH .
