Cyber Crime is the unlawful, punishable act commited by anyone to harm a person's or a group of person's information.
They steal personal information, which may include - Passwords, credit and debit card number, pin number, personal phone number, personal photos etc.
They even gain access to a computer to harm it's data.
This is a punishment act which is commited through computer's and internet.
It isn't important for everyone to know the rules in order to prevent fraud and crime related to computers. There are ten rules, commonly reffered as the Ten Commandments, which are defined by the Computer Ethics Institute located in Washington DC.
Here, the Ten commandments are :-
1. They should not use a computer to harm other people.
2. They should not interfere with other people's computer work.
3. They should not snoop around in other people's computer files.
4. They should not use a computer to steal.
5. They should not use a computer to bear false witness.
6. They should not copy or use proprietary software for which you have not paid (without permission).
7. They should not use other people's computer resources without authorization or proper compensation.
8. They should not appropriate other people's intellectual output.
9. They should think about the social consequences of the program you are writing or the system you are designing.
10. They should always use a computer in ways that ensure consideration and respect for your fellow humans.
And the ways to prevent cyber crime are ::--
1. Update Your antivirus software regularly.
2. Protect your personal information. Do not respond to any email that asks for personal information.
3. Choose a tough password and protect it.
4. Always turn off your computer when not in use.
5. Read privacy policies on websites and in software thoroughly before using them.
6. Review your bank details and other financial statements regularly.
