to balance an chemical equation first

make sure no. of molecules are same both side

if not same then multiple with suitable no. do that it will get equal both side

after balancing molecule now check charge on each side

balance the charge by adding H+ or OH-

To get balanced chemical equation

Step 1:

Count the number of atoms in reactant.

  • HCl+K , here Hydrogen=1, chloride=1, Potassium=1

  • Note Gases are always in diatomic state.

Step 2:

Count the number of atoms in product.

HCl+K=KCl+H2, Here in product Hydrogen=2, chloride=1, Potassium=1

Step 3:

Equality.

Make HCl, 2HCl in reactant

2HCl+K=KCl2+H2

But, Valency of Potassium is 1

therefore Make K, 2K

2HCl+2K=2KCl+H2

Here, atoms is reactant= atoms is product.

Therefore it's the balanced chemical reaction.
