Acetophenone to Benzoic acid conversion ---

First heat the Acetophenone with Sodium hypochlorite to get Sodium benzoate, Chloroform & sodium hydroxide.

C6H5COCH3+3NaOCl−→−−−−−NaOH/Cl2C6H5COONa+CHCl3+2NaOH

Then react this sodium benzoate with hydrochloric acid to get required benzoic acid and sodium chloride

C6H5COONa+HCl→C6H5COOH+NaCl
