These are some of the ways to convert Benzoic Acid to Bezaldehyde:



(1) Use SOCl² , then Rosenmund's Red. by PD/BaSO⁴ (as shown in img above)



(2) Or we can use Lindlar's Catalyst. (as shown in above img)

(3) Use LiAlH⁴, then PCC or PDC.
