Bromobenzene ia converted to 2-bromoacetophenone by Friedel-crafts acylation.

● Friedel-Crafts Acylation -
- Bromobenzene on treatment with acyl chloride in presence of FeCl3/AlCl3 gives 4-bromoacetophenone (major product) and 2-bromoacetophenone (minor product).


2C6H5-Br + 2CH3COCl ---> C6H4(Br)(COCH3)m + C6H4(Br)(COCH3)p + 2HCl
