Answer. Ethene is prepared by heating a mixture of ethanol and excess of concentrated sulphuric acid at 180°C. In first step, ethyl hydrogensulphate is formed which decomposes on heating to produce ethene, which is collected over water. On heating ethyl bromide with alcoholic KOH, ethene is formed.

Ameer72: To convert ethanol to ethene hard heat the ethanol at 443K in the presence of Conc. Sulphuric Acid then ethanol becomes dehydrated and forms ethene and water. (Mention the temp. above the arrow and catalyst Conc.
