ETHYNE CAN BE CONVERTED TO HEX-3-YNE BY REACTING IT WITH 2 EQUIVALENT OF AND 2 MOLES OF ETHYL BROMIDE.
Explanation:
- Sodium amide is an excellent base it takes up the terminal hydrogen atom from alkynes. So, when ethylene will be reacted with sodium amide() it will take its terminal hydrogen atom and will form a acetylide ion. Then we will react it with ethyl bromide() and it will form butyne.
- Then butyne will again be reacted with another equivalent of sodium amide(), and then with ethyl bromide() to form hex-3-yne.
