➛A shunt (low resistance) is connected in parallel with the galvanometer.

\Large\bold{\boxed{\boxed{S=(\frac{I_g}{I-I_g}) G }}}

Where,

  • I → Total current in circuit

  • G → Resistance of the galvanometer

  • S →Resistance of the shunt

  • Ig → Current through galvanometer

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

→In order to convert a Galvanometer into an Ammeter, a very low resistance is connected in parallel to Galvanometer. →Value of this resistance is so adjusted that most of the current passes through it.

→In this way a Galvanometer is converted into Ammeter.

\normalsize\bold{\texttt{DEFINATION}}

⇨ A galvanometer shows if any amount of electricity is flowing in the circuit. It does not show how much current is flowing.

⇨ An ammeter also shows the exact value of electricity flowing in the circuit
