In a process to convert Methylbromide to Acetophenone. First add Magnesium in dry ether to Methylbromide the product you will get is methyl-magnesiumbromide which will act as Grignard−reagentGrignard−reagent ,now add methyl magnesiumbromide to Benzaldehyde in dry ether you will get a product as 2-phenylethanol (which is a 2°Alcohol2°Alcohol). Now the oxidation of this compound using Potassium dichromate in acidic medium will give the desired product(Acetophenone).
