C6H6O + 2[O] --> C4H4O2 + H2O
Reagent : K2Cr2O7 + H2SO4
Alternatively, you can use following reagents for oxidation of phenol -
1) acidic. Na2Cr2O7
2) alk. KMnO4
3) Jones reagent
4) Cr2O2Cl2
