Study the sentence given below.
We will sail in an hour.
This sentence is in the simple future tense.
We can convert this sentence into the future continuous tense.
We will be sailing in an hour.
We form the simple future tense by putting the first form of the verb (infinitive without to) after will / shall.
She will come.
I will help you.
We make the future continuous tense by putting be + ing form of the verb after will/shall.
She will be coming.
I will be helping you.
If you have a sentence in the simple future tense for example
He will write a letter.
Follow the following steps to convert it:
1. Find the helping verb in the sentence (in future tense it is will). Change it to the helping verb used in the present continuous tense (am,is,are)
Now look at your subject (the doer of an action in a sentence) in this case it is 'he'
The rule is that if your subject is singular (He, she, it) you ALWAYS use a singular helping verb with it i.e. is
If your subject is plural (you, we, they) the helping verb used is are
'I' always takes am.
2. Write the verb with 'ing'. For example: wear becomes wearing
Simple now according to the rules, the above sentence becomes:
He is writing a letter.
Hope this helps :)
