How to convert simple sentence with general truth in reported speech?

• When the reporting verb is in the present tense or future tense the reported verb is not changed.

• When the reporting verb is in the past tense the reported verb is changed.

   It is changed according to these rules :

Change of tense.

• Present tense - Past tense
• Simple present - Simple past
• Present continuous - Past continuous
• Present perfect - Past perfect
• Simple past - Past perfect

• Past perfect  - Past perfect ( no change )
• Present perfect continuous - Past perfect continuous
• Past perfect - Past perfect continuous

Change of modals :

• May - Might
• Shall - Should
• Will - Would

Change of time :

• Today - That day
• Tomorrow - Next day
• Yesturday - Day before/Previous day
• Last night - Previous night
• This night - That night
• Now - Then

Change of place :

• Here - There
• This - That

Change of pronouns :

• Radhika said , " I can't give this book to you ."

       Radhika said that she could'nt give that book to me.

• I said to Rishav , " Can you please pass me the bottle ? "

       I said to Rishav that could he please pass me the bottle or

      not.
