We start by using the BE unit for mass: the SLUG.
1) A one slug mass weighs 32 lbs on Earth.
2) The mass of the Earth is 4.1 E 23 Slugs
3) 3.28 ft = 1 m; then the Radius of the Earth is
R = 2.1 E 7 ft
4) Weight is measure of the force of gravity which = G M (1) M (2) / R^2
Then: 32 = G [(4.1 E 23) (1) / (2.1 E 7)^2
This gives us a value for G in BE Units.
G = 3.44 E - 8 POUNDS-(feet-squared)/SLUG-squared
We could use the symbol sg for slug.
Then G = 3.44 E - 8 lbs-(ft)^2 /(sg)^2 QED
