How to convert toluene into benzyl alcohol?

its very easy. Toulene has CH3- group thus its electrophilic addition can be done very easily as benzyl carbocation is very stable hence. just react it with Cl2 in presence of HV(light).

the CH3 will get change to CH2- Cl

Now react it with aq(KOH) and benzyl alcohol is formed..
