an open interval in mathematics can be defined as an interval that does not enclose or confine an end points. it is often betoken or denoted with round bracket. for example (1,2). Therefore , when an interval does not contain its endpoint it is called open interval.
we should note that when an interval doesn't have parenthesis, it is never considered to be an open interval in mathematics.
however, when we have things like (0,1) it means that greater than 0 less than 1
