Relief features are the characteristic landscape features exclusive to a particular region.

  • Relief features exclusive to one region make that region unique.
  • They are thus the unique landmarks of that region.
  • The mountains, plateaus, hills, deserts, river valleys, rivers, deltas, lakes, etc are all relief features.
  • It is the difference in the elevation of these features from the normal elevation of nearby land, that makes them stand out.
  • The famous relief features of India include; The Himalayas, The Thar Desert, The Peninsular Plateau, The Indo-Gangetic Plain, The Coastal Plains, and The Islands.
