Answer:

the easiest way is to add the number of signa bonds and lone pair

for example → in NH3

number of sigma bonds are 3 and lone pair is 1

so 1+3=4

so the hybridisation will be sp3

and if a lone pair is there, then there must be a repulsion between bonds so the shape will be distorted aur bent

so u will be able to guess the shape

Hybridisation is given by total no. of sigma bond and loan pair

if sum is 2 than hybridisation is sp

if sum is 3 than hybridisation is sp2

if sum is 4 than hybridisation is sp3

if sum is 5 than hybridisation is sp3d
