How to differentiate between teardrop and hourglass?

a teardrop dulcimer has a teardrop like shape which is narrow at the edges and broad at the middle whereas an hourglass dulcimer has an hourglass like shape which is broader at the edges but narrow in the middle.

Teardrop-: Something shaped like a drop of a thin liquid, having a globular form at the bottom, tapering to a point at the top.
