Acetophenone and Benzophenone can be distinguished using the iodoform test. For idoform test the main criteria is the presence of free methyl group.
Since acetophenone contain a free methyl group therefore it will give a positive iodoform test. However, benzophenone does not contain any free methyl group therefore it will give a negative test.
