Answer:

1. An equation is a mathematical sentence that has two equal sides separated by an equal sign. 4 + 6 = 10 is an example of an equation. We can see on the left side of the equal sign, 4 + 6, and on the right hand side of the equal sign, 10.

2. 8x= 88

3. 3 less than twice the number x equals to 13.

4. x+15= 82

=> x = 82-15

=> x= 67

5. Solution is called a number which makes L.H.S= R.H.S when it is substituted for variable in equation is said to satisfy the equation.

II. 1. x+9=13 ( we try several values for x)

Let, x= 1

Then, 1+9

= 10

Which is not equal to 13

Let x = 2

2+9

= 11

Which is not equal to 13

Let, x = 4

4+9

= 13

So, x= 4

2. 3x(2+6)= 24

=> 6x+18=24

=> 6x=24-18

=> 6x=6

=> x= 6/6

=> x = 0

III.1. Let, the number be X

According to question:-

=> x+x+x+5= 50

=> 3x+5=50

=> 3x= 50-5

=> 3x= 45

=> x= 45/3

=> x= 15

So,the number is 15.

2. Let the lenght of rectangular hall be lm

And, breadth be bm

Given, l= b+5

According to question,

Perimeter= 74

2{b+(b+5)}=74

=> 2(2b+5)=74

=> 2b+5 = 37

=> 2b= 32

=> b= 16

So, breadth of rectangular hall is 16m

And, lenght of rectangular hall is (b+5)

=> (16+5)

=> 21m.
