I have an easy method to solve the problem.
Clearly 2 and 1/2 are zeroes of polynomial. And Product of zeroes =(Constant term )/( Co efficient of x^2).
So 2*1/2 =r/p
1=r/p
Hence r=p
So hence proved. Thanks for reading.
