length of floor=15m(l)
breadth of floor=8m(b)
area of floor=lxb=15x8=120m²(a)
length of tile=50cm=0.5m(L)
breadth of tile=25cm=0.25m(B)
area of each tile=LxB=0.5x0.25=0.125m²(A)
no. of tiles required to cover the floor=a/A=120/0.125=960
So,960 tiles are required to cover the floor.
now,
length of carpet=length of floor-2(1.5)=15-3=12m(n)
breadth of carpet=breadth of floor-2(1.5)=8-3=5m(m)
area of floor left uncovered=area of floor-area of carpet=a-(nxm)=120-(12x5)
=120-60=60m²
therefore, required fraction=area of floor left uncovered/area of the floor
=60/120=1/2
Thus,1/2(half) of the floor is uncovered.
