so,price of 1 plate = 3+x

price of 2 mugs= 2x

price of 8 plates = 8(3+x)

                           = 24+8x

24+8x+2x=$114

24+10x=$114

10x= $114 -$24

10x =$90

x= $10

1 mug = x =  $10

2 mugs= $20
