Hi buddy
After solving a linear equation in one variable you get a value for the variable right? You have that value for the variable in the equation and check if LHS = RHS
Ex

x + 5=90
x=90-5=85
Checking
x+5=90
85+5=90

In this, when you find the solution/value of a variable, substitute the value in place of the variable in the equation given.

If the answer after solving both sides of the equation with the variable's value, turns out to be equal, then the value of the variable/answer is considered to be verified.

For example: x + 2 = 5

So, x = 5-2 =3

So, x = 3

Substituting the value of x in x+2 = 5

We get, : 3 + 2 = 5

5 = 5

Hence, Verified.

Hope it helps!
