How to draw 5square root 2 on number line

We take a compass and a ruler.

We draw a horizontal line. Mark any two points A and B. Then draw a perpendicular bisector using arcs from A and B of equal radius.  Joining the intersections above and below AB, we get perpendicular CD to AB.

Now from the point of intersection O of the two lines AB and CD, we draw arcs of radius 5 units.  They cut AB and CD at E and F respectively.

Join EF.  The length of EF = 5 √2  units.

Now from F using the compass, draw an arc with radius = EF, and cutting line AB.  Let the point of intersection be G.

Now FG will be   5√2 units   on the number line.
