As acetylene(ehtyne) is an endothermic compound and benzene is an exothermic compound it will be very hard to convert it in a single step.I know that if acetylene is passed through a hot nickel tube that is converted into benzene.
The only use I can see this would be to conver C14 labelled benzene into radioactive acetylene.It so happens that the radio of radiolysis is much lower for most compounds when they are dissolved in benzene.If you have a C14 labelled organic compound then if you store it is a pure solid/liquid then it can start to decompose as a result
