Political divisions in India. India is a federation composed of 28 states and 7 union territories. All states, as well as the union territories of Puducherry and the National Capital Territory of Delhi, have elected legislatures and governments, both patterned on the Westminster model.

the Indian government is divided under the following....

1. Central government.

2. State government.

3. Local Self government.


the government at the centre is divided under the following....

1. Legislature.

2. Executive.

3. Judiciary.

the local Self government is controlled by the state government, which is controlled by the central/union government.

the working of legislature, executive and judiciary form the central government.
