To factorize first multiply 6 × (-1) = -6

Now get two numbers which when multiplied gives -6 and when added gives the middle coefficient i.e. 1

So, the numbers will be -2 , 3

Now in place of middle coefficient substitute these two value like, 6x^2 + 3x -2x -1 = 0

i.e. 3x ( 2x + 1 ) -1 (2x + 1) = 0

(3x - 1 ) ( 2x+ 1) = 0

x = 1/3 , -1/2.

Answer:

(3x - 1)(2x + 1)

Step-by-step explanation:

6 {x}^{2}   - x - 1

Now we do the mid term factorization of -x such that the product is -6x² and sum is -x.

Clearly the numbers are 3x and -2x.

Then,

6 {x}^{2}  + 3x - 2x - 1

3x(2x + 1) - 1(2x + 1)

(3x - 1)(2x + 1)

Thus we have factorized the given equation.
