Hi,
In order to fail light filament, the chemical used on copper is tungsten.
If the tungsten put in contact with copper, a chemical reaction is likely to cause copper filament to fail.
This will the cause the torch not to function.
I hope that this information will be very helpful to you.

Answer:
- In case of a torch light the filament it that is used is made up of a metal name tungsten which gives out light in the form of energy.
- When current passes through it the filament of this coil of tungsten is made up of copper.
- Hence when a Torchlight fails the actual reason is the reaction of tungsten and copper which makes the copper wire to wear off after reaction and fall off.
- Since the contact brakes fails to work the torchlight lights up.
