Acidic medium corresponds to H+ and basic medium to OH-....different possibilities are there..
For ex kmno4 changes to mn+ in acidic medium
To mno2 in basic medium
And mno42- in weakly basic or alkalinr

Redox rxns r those tht involve both oxidatn and reductn. In the oxidatn half rxn, one or more electrons are lost, while in the reduction half reactn, one or more electrons are gained. When these rxns r combined, we end up with a redox rxn. These reactions can take place in either acidic or basic or neutral medium.,,,,..If the redox reaction takes place in an acidic medium, proton (or H+ ) will appear in the chemical equation for redox reaction. On the other hand, if the reaction took place in an alkaline medium, hydroxyl ion (or OH- ) ion will appear in either sides of the redox reaction equation... If neither of these ions are seen in the redox reaction, the medium is neutral...

Thankyuu....the examples are given in another answer..... :)
