Alliteration is the repetition of initial consonant sounds in the same line e.g. furrow followed free
Simile is a device which compares 2 diff. things by using AS and LIKE.e.g. sweet AS sugar , sharp LIKE a fox
Metaphor also compares things but the things are unlike. They do not use as or like. Lake is a mirror
Irony is a contrast between reality and expectation , what is said and what is meant is different.e.g. in the poem The frog and the Nightingale by Vikram the bird says that our song must be our own but she still does what the frog says
