The formula for finding the discriminant is b2- 4ac

suppose u have the equation

4x2+5x+3

here

b = 5

a = 4 and c = 3

if discriminant is less than zero then there are no real roots

if it is greater than two then it has two real distinct roots

it is equal to zero then the roots are equal
